Fastride
End-to-end UX design of a self-drive car and bike rental platform for Thailand, from onboarding and booking flow to real-time notifications and admin tools. Sole designer on the founding team.
The problem
Thailand's self-drive rental market captured 63% of car rental transactions in 2025, growing at 9.28% CAGR. Yet the experience was riddled with friction: hidden pricing surfacing at checkout, language barriers blocking international tourists, credit-card-only deposits, paperwork-heavy pickups, and zero post-booking notifications. Fleet operators had no unified tool to manage availability or reservations in real time.
Fastride was designed to fix this from the ground up, building trust through transparency and putting users in control at every step.
What we achieved
Scope of work
Onboarding and Identity Verification
Streamlined document upload (passport, IDP), licence validation, and account creation in a single coherent journey, reducing drop-off at first touch.
Booking Flow
Rebuilt from scratch, reducing steps by 40% through smart defaults, progressive disclosure of pricing (zero hidden fees), and inline insurance selection with plain-language explanations.
Real-Time Notifications
Full notification system: booking confirmation, vehicle readiness, rental start and end, late return warnings, and damage reporting.
Admin Panel
Web-based dashboard for fleet operators covering vehicle availability, live booking status, driver verification queue, revenue reporting, and customer support tooling.
Transparent Pricing UI
Cost breakdown component showing base rate, insurance tier, fuel policy, and deposit clearly before checkout. Most praised design decision in beta.
Design System
Cohesive design system ensuring consistency across mobile app, web platform, and admin interface spanning typography, components, motion, and interaction patterns.
